How To Install Elementary’s Scratch Editor On Ubuntu 14.04






Scratch Text Editor is an open-source text editor, written in Vala and Gtk3. Among other features, it has syntax-highlight support for the following programming languages: Bash, C, C#, C++. Cmake, CSS, .Desktop, Diff, Fortran, Gettext, ini, Java, JavaScript, LaTex, Lua, Makefile, Objective C, Pascal, Perl, Python, Ruby, XML. It has all the basic features of a modern text editor, and with some plugins and extensions added


Installation PPA:


 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementary-os/daily
 sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get install scratch-text-editor

  1. Hey Charlie just to bring this to your attention, i'm not sure if it's important or applicable to other distros i'm using Xubuntu 14.04 and my terminal issued a warning. I've never seen it do that before, so as follows : ATTENTION!
    Do NOT install this PPA if you want a tested running system, this PPA contains the newest and most unstable development of elementary, it's useful only if you are a developer and are not afraid to encounter CRITICAL BUGS.
    Also this PPA may overwrite already installed packages you don't want it to!

  2. Interesting as i did not see it. Well its only a Text editor so the risk to anything crucial is null IMO. But thank you for the Comment.
